In Salt Lake, a young woman took decisive action on Thursday night when she apprehended a man who had attempted to molest her. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. as the woman was traveling from Island No. 4 to Ramakrishna Island. The accused, who was riding a bicycle, allegedly approached the woman and hugged her from behind without her consent.
Startled and frightened, the woman screamed for help, prompting the assailant to flee. However, she managed to grab hold of the accused and continued shouting for assistance. Local youth who heard her cries rushed to the scene, aiding in the apprehension of the perpetrator.
The Bidhannagar North Police Station was notified, and officers promptly arrived at the location. The accused, identified as a resident of Baguiati, was arrested on-site. This incident comes amidst heightened concerns about women's safety following the recent rape and murder case at RG Kar Medical College.
